PRESS RELEASE - Bayport Cookery Expands and offers New Dining Options
IF you haven't dined at the Bayport Cookery since 2002... you'll hardly recognize the place. Turning west off Highway 95 onto Fifth Avenue North in small town Bayport, just south of Stillwater, MN, return visitors will immediately notice, something is different. Gone is the original burgundy awning, replaced with a distinctive new top facade connecting the original building with an almost ornate looking pergola leading into a brand new addition, effectively doubling the gourmet restaurant's physical presence, not to mention adding considerable architectural interest to what was essentially a brick box structure.
The true reward, however, comes when you enter the restaurant. Chef/owner Jim Kyndberg describes the ambience as "rustic elegance". The original dining area has recently been dressed up with stamped and framed copper ceiling panels which, combined with new carpet and wall covering, give the room a richness to match the creative cuisine. Then you see it… Your eyes are drawn left, where once was solid wall, now opens to a four-season room with a massive floor-to-ceiling, hand-crafted stone fireplace wall, securing a wood-fired oven and a huge fireplace…
The changes bring expanded dining options: Nightly ala carte dinner specials offered Tuesday - Sunday from 5:30 - 9:00 PM, along with the traditional 5-course and new 9-course fixed price menus.

"The monthly themes force Kyndberg to think about food differently
than most chefs, and though the results can be widely different,
the quality is consistently strong."
"The
menu's strength was that the ingredients in each dish effortlessly
complemented the ingredients in the next, which created exactly
the kind of flow you usually can't achieve when ordering on your
own."

"Bayport
Meets Manhattan: Carnegie Hall and Broadway are the goals of many
musicians and actors with eyes on New York City. Chefs set their
sights on the James Beard House, which is where a small-town restaurant
crew from Minnesota recently found applause."
"The meal
flies out of the kitchen like clockwork, and is greeted with great
enthusiasm upstairs in the dining rooms. Every 20 minutes, a new
course is presented, each a study in imagination, beauty and craftsmanship."
